Training Project Design and Management
The challenge: Training multilingual electronics service technicians around the world on how to use a new Oracle-based custom enterprise software package for which no documentation exists.
The solution: Working from software developer’s design notes and interviews with subject matter experts, a needs analysis was used to design instructor-led solutions for offices in North America, Europe and Asia. I managed the training project, designed a curriculum (including multilingual role-specific student workbooks), and trained instructors that were deployed globally. The rollout was a complete success.

Career and Education Planning
Client: SFU and the Canadian Council on Learning

Self-paced eLearning System
The challenge: Provide an effective resource for high-school and university students interested in career and education planning.
The solution: Based on a needs analysis of teachers and students, and the guidance of researchers, I designed a self-paced program that was effective and engaging for students. It used web-based self-assessment tools and critical thinking exercises that addressed the needs of students and teachers.

Biology Lessons for Grade 3 Students
Client: University of British Columbia

Web-based Multimedia Explorer
The challenge: Teaching 8-year-olds concepts and vocabulary related to the frog life cycle.
The solution: I completed a detailed anatomical study of frogs and their habitat, then used this to create a complete set of illustrations detailing every stage, then built this into an interactive web-based resource with an interface simple enough for very young children to navigate.

Wetland Ecology for College Students
Client: Langara College and Vancity Credit Union

Flash-based Animated Course Reference
The challenge: Create a comprehensive reference teachers can use in the classroom and students can use for studying wetland habitat ecology.
The solution: Created a complete website in Flash detailing how a wetland was created on the Langara campus, how to conduct chemical analysis of the water system, along with numerous resources on the history of the site, biochemistry, plant locations and data, maps, and links to other references.

Technical Training at a Distance
Client: Future Shop Ltd.

Live Virtual Classroom Solutions
The challenge: Training consumer electronics repair technicians at locations right across Canada.
The solution: Setting up a virtual classroom with streaming video, duplexed audio and application sharing that enabled technicians in every time zone to participate live, or watch previously recorded classroom sessions when convenient. This solution was far more cost effective, flexible and efficient than previous approaches.

Health and Workplace Safety Training
Client: Best Buy Canada / Future Shop

Interactive DVD Movie
The challenge: Ensure that more than 2,000 employees and store managers are aware of all health and workplace safety procedures are understood and followed.
The solution: Designing a complete program around an interactive DVD movie, shot on location, along with self-paced workbooks and tests covering every aspect. I wrote and directed the film, managed editing, and wrote all accompanying materials.

Management Training and Promotion
Client: Best Buy Canada / Future Shop

Mentor-based Certification Program
The challenge: Selecting, promoting and training store managers and assistant managers efficiently in a fast-growing company.
The solution: The creation of a store management training and certification program that could be completed on the job using existing mangers as mentors. Certification involved scenario training, workbooks and video clips followed by real-world exercises that could be completed over a two month period.
